William Llewellyn Griffiths' flagship store Metal Couture est.2006 has acquired a cult following in his hometown of Melbourne. The eclectic range of sterling silver jewellery is influenced by Griffiths' own youthful rebellion, tattoo art, gothic revival architecture and the notion of Memento Mori - Latin for remembering one's mortality. Metal Couture is an intimate space where you can watch the master jeweller at work, sitting at his bench overlooking his beloved Gertrude Street - this is where the story began, telling tales of ships, skulls, mermaids, gargoyles and cathedrals, and this is where it continues.
